WORLD AND MARKET FIRST
The OA ROTA solves sealing installation tasks that were previously considered impossible. The basis of the new, patent-pending process is a rotary kinematic system that expands and installs the seal. The process enables new degrees of freedom in product design and is available in various degrees of automation.
The safe and efficient installation of seals is an issue that is generally given little or too little attention along the value chain of a product. The heterogeneity of sealing tasks means that there is no single solution for the supply and installation of seals, but rather that the most suitable method must be selected on a case-by-case basis.
Seals that have low inherent stability due to a high diameter/cord thickness ratio pose particular challenges. Or the cross-section to be processed is not round, as is the case with classic O-rings, but has a different geometry (e.g., X-rings, lip seals, hose seals). Examples of such applications include seals in the hydraulic sector or O-rings with large diameters, such as those used in e-mobility for stator cooling.
OHRMANN has now developed another sealing assembly method for such seals, based on rotary kinematics for expanding and assembling the sealing ring. In addition to maximum freedom from twisting, another advantage of this method is that the kinematics allow the center of the expansion mechanism to remain free. This means that seals can be installed even in very deep grooves and even on curved component geometries. The process thus opens up new degrees of freedom in the design of products and components.
The process is available in various degrees of automation. Feel free to contact us for a no-obligation consultation!
