Knowledge and experience in the feeding and assembly behaviour of seals are essential when planning assembly processes. They are the foundation for ensuring a smooth production ramp-up and maintaining consistently high machine availability. OHRMANN is the specialised technology leader in the field of seal feeding and assembly.

Extensive Know-How in Handling Critical Seals

We possess in-depth expertise in dealing with challenging installation conditions and critical seals – a factor often underestimated in assembly planning. Particularly critical are very small O-rings with an inner diameter starting from 0.5 millimetres, as well as extremely flexible rings with low cord thickness, specific base materials containing mineral additives or silicone, and certain sliding coatings. These require special consideration from the very beginning.

While many suppliers of assembly automation see O-ring assembly as one process among many, OHRMANN deliberately uses a different approach. Even before a quotation is prepared, the OHRMANN feeder test is carried out for critical seals with sample parts, which documents important information for planning the assembly process.

We pay special attention to the reduction of static charge and adhesion in the feeding process. Factors that favour occurrences of this kind are already eliminated during the planning process. As a result, many seals that used to regularly cause major problems in series production are now capable of being assembled in a process-safe manner. Thereby plant availability is significantly increased. One more reason to pay due attention to the C-part O-ring as early as the planning stage.

For critical seals and tasks, we carry out endurance tests before delivery or integration. In this way, we ensure that the cycle time required for the respective task is reliably fulfilled in the long term.
